A season of notes in the door pocket of a truck.
Turning what you see in the field into a record you can actually plan from.
Here are my notes and photos from this week and the forecast. What should I check first, and what should the watering plan be?
Claudeturns your notes into a clean field record- Geminispots dates or notes that disagree
Codexbuilds the season timeline by field
North plot, week 41
- Check first: yellowing on the far rows has spread
- Water the east beds Tuesday and Friday, skip if it rains
- Same pattern as July, before the drainage fix
You know when you watered the north plot because you were there. You know the leaves on the far rows looked wrong in July. You know roughly what you spent on feed. It is all true and none of it is written anywhere you could find it in February.
- Decisions rest on memory of last season
- Advisers see a snapshot, not the whole year
- Problems are spotted after they have spread
Try it yourself in Luminair
Six steps. No setup beyond the AI plan you already have.
- 1
Install Luminair and sign in
Download Luminair and open it. Go to Settings → Models → Add account and sign in with an AI plan you already pay for, like Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini.
- 2
Make a folder for this job
In the sidebar, choose New folder… and name it “Farm”. Then choose New session in this folder. Everything for this job stays together.
- 3
Bring the information in
You need: field notes by voice, plant photos and this week's forecast. Connect Airtable, Gmail and Trello in Settings → Connectors, or export the files and drag them into the chat.
- 4
Ask for the result
Paste this into the session, or say it in your own words:
Here are my notes and photos from this week and the forecast. What should I check first, and what should the watering plan be?
- 5
Get a second opinion
Pick a different model in the model picker and ask it to check the first answer:
Compare these photos with the same field last month. What changed?
- 6
Make it repeat
Open Flows → New and add the steps: Read this week's field notes and photos → Compare with the same weeks last season → Write next week's plan. Choose when it runs, like every Monday at 09:00. Nothing is sent or changed until you approve it.
How it plays out
Talk to it from the field
Use your phone to dictate what you did and what you saw: watered, sprayed, patchy growth on the east side. Add a photo of the leaf. It all lands in the Farm folder.
Ask for the week ahead
Give it the forecast and your notes and ask for a plan for the week: what to water, what to check, what can wait. Photos of a plant can be described and compared with earlier ones.
Bring the season to the adviser
Before a visit, ask for a one page summary of the season. The adviser reads months of history in two minutes, and their advice goes back into Journal.
You stay in charge
Luminair does not read sensors, drones or satellites by itself and it is not an agronomist. A photo based suggestion is a reason to go and look, and you and your adviser make the call.
Next season you start with a written history of every plot, in your own words, that you can question in plain language.
